We arrived spot on time at 9.40 and were met by Cosmos, our driver and safari guide for the next 6 days. He made us feel very welcome and drove us the 37 miles from the airport into Arusha where we went to the Easy Travel office to go through the details of the trip and for Mrs L to pay the outstanding monies. Every detail of our safari and onward travel to Zanzibar has been considered – Easy Travel are continuing to live up to their 5* reviews on Trip Advisor and in the Rough Guide. What we had not appreciated is that our safari is a private one, it will be just us, Cosmos and our Toyota Landcruiser for the rest of the week.
It was then onto our accommodation booked for today and overnight, Planet Lodge located just outside Arusha. We have our own little round lodge which is great.
Views from the lodge are good too…….
Following a light lunch for Mrs L and burger and chips for Mr L it was back to our lodge for an afternoon of sleep…….both feeling somewhat the worse for wear with minimal sleep on the journey here. Timezone-wise we are 3 hours ahead of UK time.
Dinner tonight was here at Planet Lodge. Pre-dinner drinks consisted of the very drinkable Kilimanjaro lager for Mrs L and a radioactive looking Fanta Orange for Mr L. An early-to-bed night tonight – 21.40, but we are knackered – we need to be up at 7am for breakfast and we are then being collected at 8.30am to start our long drive to the Serengeti – let our safari begin!
