Whilst staying at the Garrison Inn in Kalispell we were introduced to homemade huckleberry jam at breakfast. Huckleberry jam is delicious and not something Mr L and I had ever come across before. It looks like black currant jam and we think it tastes of a cross between blueberries and raspberries.
Huckleberries are fairly rare and grow in the wild at higher altitudes and are loved by bears. The berries look like small blueberries and are also the state fruit of Idaho. Our host had picked the huckleberries and then made his jams from them. A jar of huckleberry jam is coming home with us!
